The Hollow is pleased to announce they are the 1st place winners of The Sherman Theater's Clash for Cash 3.0 Battle of the Bands! The competition was held on Saturday, February 5th at Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, PA. The Hollow placed 1st among 9 of the other bands, winning a cash prize in addition to both a future headling slot and national tour supporting slot at the Sherman Theater in the near future. Stroudsburg's storied Sherman Theater was rockin' at the Clash for Cash competition on Feb. 5 as fans weathered rain, sleet and snow to hear and support 10 acts from the tri-state region.
The Hollow, from New Jersey, received the $2,000 top cash prize. Second place winners Who We Are won $500 in cash while third place winners Forbidden Dreams' walked away with $200.
The Hollow originally was called The Meathooks and released an album in 2008 titled "No End In Sight." Vocalist James Vilade collaboratesdwith bandmates lead guitarist Brian Wilson, bass guitarist Stephen Babula and drummer Kevin Barry. They have recorded and produced all of their own music at Babula's home studio and have been featured in many media outlets like Westside Hill Radio, Indie Gab Hill Radio magazine Morristown Music Watch and Madeloud.com. Their song — "Drivin' On Smack" — was featured in a Winter X Games snowboarding video clip. They also have a huge following on Youtube with more than 9,000 views on their video "Run Away" and acknowledged their loyal fans who braved the weather to get to the show.
